Day One

2013 brought a lot with it. Sometimes years will go by and I don’t really feel like much momentous happened at all, but 2013 was packed to the brim with momentous.

There were many new friendships made (four and five hour lunches!) with people from all over the world, which are connections that I’m hopeful will last years and years. There were relationships cemented, and one that was tested and has floundered a bit.

There was a new career path chosen, which brought intense study and immense personal and spiritual growth.

There was creativity found, which once was lost, and other life-changing online courses, which I was blessed to take.

There was adventurous travel with the love of my life.

There was a conference attended, where I met people I internet-knew and loved and got to hug and smile and share space with in real life. There were retreats attended and one retreat sadly, not attended.

There was a husband’s birthday celebrated with a trip to family in Cali, which included a surprise visit from daughter number one.

There was Pismo. Magic.

There was a 21st birthday celebrated with a football game and midnight drink with a daughter that shines so bright.

And there was a dog that passed away one morning who took part of me with her.

There were pounds shed, which I’m happy to release and send on their way, blessing them for bringing me what I needed while they were here, now ready to need them no longer.

There was help received for the past, and the present, and the future by some incredible souls, some of them even human.

I bless 2013 for all of this and all of the rest. Thank you 2013.

Today is Day One of 2014 and I bless it for all it is about to bring. Thank You 2014.

Thank you.

Did anything momentous happen in your life in 2013? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.

Today I’m wishing you peace, love and infinite prosperity in 2014.

I’ve Been Told I’m Totally Magic

A year ago July I made a decision to change the path of my life. There were a series of seemingly unrelated events that occurred, and because I was paying close attention, they added up to me pursuing a career as a Life Coach. Honestly, it’s something from which I’ve been running since I was in third grade. It’s been following me around and tapping me on the shoulder, and then last year someone said, “You should be a life coach!” Never mind that she said it to the lady sitting next to me! It hit me in the middle of the forehead like, duh!!!  Of course!!  That is what I’m supposed to be doing with my life!  And in January, I began my training with Martha Beck Inc. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made for myself.

During training, we are coaching. I’ve coached classmates and friends, and have been told that I’m totally magic, among other things. I am very passionate about being of service in this way and I’m looking for a few more clients that I will talk to on a regular basis. It can be over the phone or via Skype – so it doesn’t matter where you live. Coaching with me now will be less expensive than it will be once training and certification are over, so if you are interested in exploring a shift in your life (or know someone who is), I would love to start talking with you about it now.

What is a Life Coach?

The analogy is used that a physician treats and heals a physically sick person, and then a coach or personal trainer takes that healthy person and optimizes their body. You want a better golf swing? You hire a coach. You want to reshape your body and get stronger? You hire a
personal trainer.

Life coaching works in the same way – it takes the mentally healthy person and helps them take their life to the next level. You’re stuck in life and don’t know which way to turn? Life coach. You’re having relationship issues with the people that mean the most to you? Life coach. You’re ready for change, but don’t know what that looks like? Life coach. You’re sick of making the same mistakes over and over and over? Life coach. You’re ready to fall in love with yourself and your life? Elle Jaye.

Introducing Elle Jaye Jacobsen (a.k.a. Laurie 2.0)

Elle Jaye – that’s me. Along this journey of life coach training, I have changed and grown so much that I really don’t feel like the old me anymore. And honestly, don’t tell my mom, but I’ve never been in love with the name Laurie. I was born Laurie Jean Gies and my brother has always called me L.J.

A few years ago we got a Wii and for a reason completely unbeknownst to me, I named my avatar Elle Jaye (L.J., with a twist).  Recently, I read this blog post by Flora Bowley wherein she talks about how she went from being Shannon to Flora. It was a life-changing, huge “Aha!” moment for me and I will forever be grateful to her for sharing her story. I can pick? I can decide what my name is? Yes, yes I can. This time, I’m picking my own name, and it’s Elle Jaye. So that’s the name of my business, and if you want to start calling me that, I would love it. I’m not legally changing my name at this point, but I am Elle Jaye Jacobsen LLC for the business. It feels so right and so good and so loving to myself. And every time someone calls me Elle or Elle Jaye, I
get a tingle.

A new career and a new name, all deeply rooted in knowing that I am exactly where I’m supposed to be, doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing.

I’ve put up a landing page on where you can sign up for my newsletter and schedule a free discovery or paid coaching session with me.

If you know that you’re ready to get started, you can go straight to my website and click the “Schedule Session” button, or if you’d like to chat about it a little first, you can send me an email at or a private Facebook message here:

Today I wish for you deep roots of love.
