Finally! A Nose Piercing Story

Notice anything different about me????

When I was 19 years old I wanted to get my nose pierced. Like really bad.

This was 31 years ago and no one I knew had a nose piercing and they weren’t very popular at all, but I had known a couple of women that had them and I LOVED the look of them.

When I told the guy I was dating that I wanted a nose piercing he said, “you’re too pretty to get your nose pierced.”

What the hell does that even mean??? Did he think only ugly people had their noses pierced? I certainly didn’t think that, nor did I think I was any prettier than any of them. They were beautiful women and I thought the nose piercing made them even more so!

I let him and then my parents and then a whole string of other boys and friends tell me that I shouldn’t get my nose pierced. Some of them even saying the same thing, “you’re too pretty for that.” ?????

Well, fast forward to 50 years old and you can guess exactly how many people these days are allowed to have an opinion over what I do with my body.

So, on EASTER of all days, I got my nose pierced! Dani, my daughter) and I had gone to the piercing place the day before and it was a zoo. It was an hour wait and packed with people and my introverted self needed to get out of there. Dani, without realizing she was speaking with the owner, relayed that she had really wanted to be with me when I got it done and she was leaving on Monday before the store opened, so it wouldn’t happen and she was bummed.

So, the amazing owner of Straight to the Point in Tucson (Hi Lisa Marie!) said, “If you want to come in tomorrow, I’ll open for you."

So we went and it was the most awesome experience. We had the whole place to ourselves, which was a dream, and mom and daughter go to have the memory of a lifetime together.

I’M THRILLED WITH MY NOSE PIERCING and I wish I had gotten in 31 years ago when I really wanted it.

I love the way I look and the way it makes me feel. Like a Badass.

I’d love to hear something that you’ve not done yet that you’re waiting for “some day” for.

Tell me in the comments!!!
